The Art That Started It All: How Drawing Shaped Printz Tone’s Music

Before any microphone, rhythm, or melody entered the picture, Printz Tone was an artist with a pencil in his hand.

Before any microphone, rhythm, or melody entered the picture, Printz Tone was an artist with a pencil in his hand. Growing up in Clinton, NC, he spent countless hours drawing a habit that sharpened his creativity long before he stepped into the world of music. After high school, he spent five years in the military and traveled overseas, gaining a deeper understanding of people, culture, and emotion. Those experiences are part of why he believes music isn’t just entertainment; it’s memory. As he says, “My experiences taught me that music is like a timestamp… I want my music to last and have that feel.”

That mindset is at the center of his newest single, “You Got Me.” The song came from a simple, real place. “It’s a summertime feel-good song,” Printz explains. It wasn’t overthought or overproduced he created it for the moment and the mood. Cool, laid-back, and unforced, the track reflects his personality. “I’m cool. I’m myself,” he says, and that authenticity shows up in every part of the song. Built for sunny days and good energy, “You Got Me” captures the exact feeling Printz wants to give people.
